Diabetes Treatment

my mom has diabetes, and my grandma did, and my grandmas sisters did, and my dads brother did. my dad doesent. i dont know if i carry the gene, but i dont wanna find out, i just want to prevent diabetes, because from what i hear about the disease, it kinda *****.

how can i prevent diabetes? i start to exercise and lower my sugar intake, and im 14 year old boy. thanks!
my mom got it at about 35 more or less, because wen i was born or something, but her ancestors got it at later adult.

so is it possible to PREVENT it or just DELAY it?

My blood sugar/lipid levels, etc. are perfectly normal, but I do have a couple of major risk factors for diabetes.
